Pranav K P dominates 3rd Check N Mate Rapid Rating Open 2025

15-year-old FM Pranav K P scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 3rd Check N Mate Rapid Rating Open 2025. He finished a half point ahead of the competition. Half a dozen players - Dr. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya, Siddhanth Poonja, Sham R, IM Ravi Teja S, Chairth Bhat and Ankit Gajwa scored 8/9 each. They secured second to seventh place respectively according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund was ₹400000. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹20000 and ₹15000 along with a trophy each. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Check N Mate at Vishwa Vidyapeeth School in Bengaluru, Karnataka on 31st May and 1st June 2025. Laxman wins Blitz Open

Four players - Sham R, Siddhanth Poonja, Syed Abdul Khader and FM Pranav K P were the leaders 7.5/8, going into the final round of Rapid. Abdul lost to Pranav and he became the champion. Dr. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya defeated Ayush Bhai Mehta to secure second place. Sham drew with Siddhanth and the latter finished third.

Pranav K P scored an unbeaten 8.5/9, finished a half point ahead of the field and gained 109.6 Elo rating points

In the Blitz event, Dr. IM Anwesh Upadhyaya, GM Laxman R R and Sailesh R were the three leaders 7.5/8, going into the last round. Sailesh lost to Laxman who became the champion. Sham R suffered defeated against Anwesh and he finished second. FM Ashwath R won against Sudarshan Bhat to claim third place.

A total of 727 players including a GM and three IMs took part from various parts of the country and six from the USA. The two-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Check N Mate at Vishwa Vidyapeeth School in Bengaluru, Karnataka on 31st May and 1st June 2025. The time control of the event was 15 minutes + 5 seconds increment per move.
